SMARTHEP is a network that connects the fields of High Energy Physics (HEP) and Data Science, especially in relation to the challenges of processing large datasets using real-time analysis. SMARTHEP is intended as a consortium formed by academic and industrial partners on scientific, technological, and entrepreneurship aspects of both HEP and Data Science.
Read MoreThe SMARTHEP network members have organized a number of events in Europe and worldwide, promoting real-time analysis and the interaction between academia and industry.
Read Morehe SMARTHEP team has submitted a new funding request to the European Union Marie Curie training progam (H2020-MC-ITN2018) for an innovative training network, training 12 PhD students over the course of four years in real-time analysis techniques, machine learning and hybrid computing architectures. The results of SMARTHEP will be concrete commercial deliverables and will also benefit the HEP community in providing cutting edge technology for the area of fundamental particles detection, measurement and discoveries. The training aspect of this work is crucial to the SMARTHEP initiative, beyond the industrial applications. The young investigators working within SMARTHEP will also be prepared as professionals in the upcoming and highly demanded area of Data Science. They will have the chance to gather work experiences and training in industry during their PhD degree and establish connections to companies.
